well the exploits in the world of malaysian TV are still well and truely underway. W've hopefully finished 2 episode sof the crime bytes series, finally, it's been a real slog but I think that now these 2 are out of the way then the rest should just fall into place nicely.
There have been plenty of battles this week with boss etc, but now I think the work should speak for itself, I also think the american clients will like these and aprrove them. Which would be very nice indeed.
As for other stuff, we went a bit bonkers last weekend and randomly decided to shoot an entire new episode froa series here called Dark City. They had finished shooting the series, but one episode in particular was so hideously bad, mindboggling awful even by malasyian standards and that is certainly saying smoething I can tall you.
So myself and James the editor, hit upon a great idea, he came up with a rough script in one night, the next night we had a "pre-production meeting" and worked out all the logistics over a cup of tea. The next afternoon we called various friends and pressganged them into being in the show for free, then over the weekend we shot the ting. I wa cameraman (and quite proud of the results I am too).
We shot the whole episode in less than 14 hours (for a half hour show), when all the others took 3 days, and our budget didn't excede 230RM (the princely some of less than 35pounds) when the other episodes had budget around the 3000pound mark.
It was hilarious, basically a bad splat gore dark comedy about a failed actor who went crazy and killed off the film company that offended him - using the origional ator from the awful episode that wa never going to be.
Proper good, and we got to salvage footage from the origional episode, so that wasn'[t totally wasted.
Amongst other things I have provided the film company with a brand new greenscreen facility. At the cost of around 8pounds, co I painted a wall green in the office. It drew some unfriendly comments at first, followed by complete lack of faith in my abilities, until we proved them all wrong and have shot two different things on greenscreen this week alone.
Hahaha eat you hats disbelievers, feel the power of the mighty bodger and his cheapfix techniques of doom!!!
I'll show you a picture of the cutting edge painted wall and the joyous key-outs that have followed in my next entry. I think half of the reason why I face such opposition to these mighty ideas is that they are just such obvious solutions - why spend 500 quid on a "professional" greenscreen cloth, when 8 quid on a can of paint will do? Why spend 2 or 3000 on tracks and a dolly, when a wheelchair and cheap shoulder bracket will do the same job and better for less than 100?
It take s abit of time for these ideas to sink into the thick skulls fo the non-believers, but the result speak for themselves.
